SCRR at Casa Grande at the Wuertz Gourd Festival

February 7 - 12, 2019

The competition gourds are in a separate building.  The entries are grouped and judged by categories highlighting specific
building skills and skill level of the artists.  They range from beginning youth to the grand masters.  Most of these
pictures speak for themselves.

It was early morning when we left the competition gourds and headed along the fairway past the food vendors
in almost isolation.  It didn't take long for the crowds to really pack this area!

The main hall is where all the vendors booths were set up.  They consisted of Gourders displaying and selling their crafts and vendors supplying support such as tools, paint and
supplies, and how-to books.  The beautiful gourd on the right sold for $1600, and it looks like the artist earned every penny of it!

Yes, all the pieces of "fruit" on the right are really gourds!

There was music playing on the outdoor stage all day, each day.  Here we see our own Prescott based bluegrass group, Just for Mama playing minus one daughter.
Unfortunately, daughter Hillary was ill and did not fly down from Idaho this year.  On the right we see a mariachi group playing.

Here we see some of the visitors touring the over 100 display booths.

This beautiful diorama of our native Arizona desert wildlife is created entirely of gourds.  It is truly amazing!
